Here is a clip from the 1995 Michael Mann film Heat.

Watch through it and try to identify EIGHT different camera shot types.
Take a screenshot of each and then analyse each one - explain why you think this shot was used, what effect it could potential have on the audience. Think about information it gives you, think about the context of the scene and how it helps the scene.


For example:

This close-up tracking shot follows the footsteps of the armed robber (Robert De Niro) as he enters the foyer of the bank. The shot matches the of action from the previous mid shot of him entering the bank and emphasises the calm, steady pace of his footsteps - they are not rushed or hurried - this is a man in control. Through the framing the audience is able to see the movement of bank workers and customers none of whom are focusing on the robber, they are merely going about their business.
